Zenith City Indivisible Update
2025.05.10
Wishing you a Happy Mothers' Day!!!
This holiday has roots in activism. Juliet Ward Howe originally promoted a "Mother's Peace Day." She and other anti-war activists intended to spread unity following the Civil War in the United States and the Franco-Prussian War in Europe. Her friend Ann Jarvis also took up this concept in an effort to get recognition for women's work and sacrifices. In 1908, Ann's daughter Anna Jarvis set up the first Mother's Day service at her church in order to honor her mother. Later President Roosevelt declared the official holiday on the second Sunday in May (which happened to be the birthday of Ann Jarvis). This holiday is an example of how the efforts of a few people can yield long-lasting results.
We are so happy that you are in Indivisible! Your participation has great impact. Not only does mass solidarity create real change, it builds connections in our local community.
Zenith City Indivisible continues to learn and evolve. Our group mobilizes to join the many events, rallies, & protests occurring throughout the northland. We also have realized how much we enjoy hanging out afterwards for conversation and community.
